Details
Overview
Chess 2D lets you take on a computer opponent in a straightforward two-dimensional chess match. The game highlights every legal move for a selected piece, using green to mark a valid square, blue for special moves like En Passant and Castling, and yellow for a move that would leave your King exposed and is therefore blocked. If the King is actually under threat, that square turns red. Selecting a piece lights up the board in these robot-style signal colours - green for go, orange or yellow for caution, and red for danger - so you always know where you stand. The game runs through the GamePix HTML5 player directly from Playvoxo.com, with nothing to download beforehand.
Gameplay and Experience
Think through the position, commit to your moves, and try to reach a solution using as few unnecessary steps as possible.
Controls
The aim is to clear every tile from play. First, rotate the three-dimensional structure to see what's stacked beneath the surface - keep in mind that covered tiles can't be picked yet. Tap any tile that's free to collect it, sending it down into your on-screen tray. Once three matching tiles land in the tray together, they merge and disappear automatically, freeing up room. The tray only holds seven tiles at once, so you'll need to manage it - use Undo to take back a move, Retrieve to pull back up to three tiles, or Shuffle to rearrange the layout when no matches are visible.
How to Play
Clear every tile to complete the round. Rotate the shape to check hidden layers, since only exposed tiles are selectable. Tap an eligible tile to send it to your tray. Three of a kind in the tray clear automatically, but with only seven tray slots available, use Undo, Retrieve, or Shuffle whenever you get stuck.
Features
Colourful, three-dimensional match puzzles; short sessions built for quick play; simple tap-and-click controls; a relaxed pace that gradually gets harder; instant play on mobile or desktop through your browser; the official GamePix HTML5 embed; a responsive layout across phone, tablet and desktop; full touch control support.
Tips and Tricks
Give the cube a full rotation before making your first move. Watch for clusters that open up new tiles once cleared. Slow your dragging down when checking crowded corners. If nothing obvious matches, check the opposite face of the shape.
